It's a new year. The first several days of the new year were some of the most...interesting that I had ever had. Definitely some of the best.

The whole two weeks between the 21st of December and 3rd of January were awesome.

I've mentioned at length about all the stuff that went on, so many times that I don't want to repeat it here. But, it was awesome.

And my days are now spent training Lucy the basset hound puppy we got on New Year's Eve. Boy, was that a surprise that came out of left field.

She's great. So cute and funny. At times she can be a little hellion but we've been teaching her to behave and she gets better. I've been teaching her how to lie down and roll over. She gets some of it. And she has so many toys it's ridiculous.

Lucy (or one of her many nicknames, Lu, Lulu, Eve as in New Year's Eve, puppy, dog, baldy, trouble) is nothing like Lady, and that's a good thing. It might've been more painful if she'd been more like Lady. I still miss her a lot, but Lucy helps so much.

The feeling you get when you come home and a dog tears down the hallway at full speed, tail wagging furiously, jumping up and down when they reach you is just...undescribable. She practically smiles as she jumps up to greet me. Her tail just swishes back and forth so fast. Then she licks my face and gets more excited when I talk to her. Lady did that when she was younger, when she was older, she sometimes didn't hear we'd come home, but would run to us when she figured it out, tail wiggling. Having a dog so happy to see you come home is such a great feeling. I missed it greatly.

Oh, that game of chess I was playing? I won. Now the board's been wiped clean and I'm playing something new. Unfortunately, the rules aren't familiar to me and I can't find any rule book.

I'm thinking of changing my hair again. This red fades as soon as I put more dye into it. My hair's also too long. I'm thinking maybe I should just lighten all of my hair to a lighter shade. Slightly reddish, but natural. Or just get a lot of highlights throughout. I dunno. I'll probably have it done around my birthday as a gift since getting it done is so goddam expensive.

This subzero weather is just so aggravating. I can't do anything when it's this cold. I can't go out, can't do anything. Arg.

Things are pretty dull right now, and sometimes stressful. But when things get bad, I just remember one thing and everything doesn't seem bad. It just all seems more managable.

So yeah, that's it. Things're fine. Gearing up for the year is all. A...forced hibernation. That's it.
